CSA resolves to put T20 Global League back on track


South Africa could have its own privately owned franchise T20 competition after CSA’s board and members’ council resolved to pursue the formation of a “financially sustainable” league at a meeting in Durban over the weekend. Following weeks of speculation over whether CSA would go ahead with the tournament, which was postponed last November because estimates suggested CSA would lose USD 25 million in the first season, and the rejection of a proposal for the competition to be wholly owned by CSA, the board decided to re-engage in discussions with the current team owners as it hopes to relaunch the event. The decision is still subject to CSA testing the financial viability of the tournament in local and international markets.
