4.42pm Despite 40 extra minutes, we are eight overs short. But unlike the over-rate, the game has made significant progress. It’s been a well-fought final so far. Vidarbha would have been so much happier going into stumps three down. They still have six wickets in hand, though, and need 89 more to erase the deficit. Importantly, they still have Wasim Jaffer, the old warhorse and their most experienced batsman, at the crease. Akshway Wakhare is currently partnering him, but there is still Akshay Wadkar, the wicketkeeper-batsman, so some decent batting to follow. Highlight of the day was Rajneesh Gurbani flattening the stumps of Vikas Mishra, Navdeep Saini and the centurion Dhruv Shorey to become the second man to register a hat-trick in a Ranji final. Vidarbha followed that up with a solid opening stand between Faiz Fazal and Sanjay Ramaswamy, but the balance has shifted between both sides after that. Can either side firmly tilt it in their favour tomorrow? We will be back at 8.45am to bring the third day’s action to you. From myself and Deiva, it’s goodbye and a very Happy New Year!
Here’s something for the badminton fans among you. It was the year of Kidambi Srikanth as he won four Superseries events in 2017 – and now he is close to becoming the best.
Khejroliya to Wakhare, no run, heedlessly flashes his bat at a shortish delivery well outside the off-stump. It’s the last ball of the day but luckily for him, makes no contact
Khejroliya to Wakhare, no run, short of a length, comes on around middle from outside the leg-stump, stays in the crease and clumsily defends with bat away from pad
Should be the last over of day 2
Khejroliya to Wankhade, OUT, oh, dear! Wankhade has been dismissed in the final moments of the second day’s play. And it’s to a very good delivery. On a length and drawing him forward. Jags away significantly with the shine on the other side and finds a thick outside edge that is snaffled by the keeper

Khejroliya to Jaffer, 1 run, in the air but safe. Leans early into a drive and chips it uppshly but into the gap at covers
MaidenGlance: “Delhi’s ground fielding has left a lot to be desired. Little more agility & urgency on this front & the complexion of the match could have been different! “
Khejroliya to Jaffer, 1 run, back of a length, cuts in slightly and finds the inside of the bat as he defends
After repeated requests from Delhi’s bowler – no fewer than three – the umpire finally cede and agree to change the ball.
